One person was killed and three were injured in a crash involving an 18-wheeler and three passenger vehicles on Interstate 20 near Hemphill Street in south Fort Worth on Tuesday night, Nov. 12.

The westbound lanes of I-20 were closed at Hemphill following the accident, which was reported about 7:40 p.m., Fort Worth police said.

The initial investigation found that the semi truck had stopped because of traffic congestion, leading to a chain reaction of collisions, police said.

One of the drivers whose vehicle was struck from behind had fatal injuries, police said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man who died as 74-year-old Naseer Bajwa.

Two other people were taken to hospitals with serious injuries and one person had more minor injuries, according to MedStar.

The Police Department’s Traffic Unit will continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
