Bounty hunters shoot, wound man during pursuit near Stop Six, Fort Worth police say
Two bounty hunters who shot at and wounded a man they were pursuing Monday night were detained by officers, Fort Worth police said.
The bounty hunters reported that the man was driving a vehicle and began to charge them and that they fired in an attempt to stop the vehicle, police said.
The man was struck once in the thigh. He was in surgery Monday night and was expected to survive, police said. According to MedStar, the man was in critical condition when he was transported to the hospital.
The shooting occurred about 6:15 p.m. in the 3000 block of Avenue N, in east Fort Worth.
Both bounty hunters were in custody Monday night and cooperating with investigators, Fort Worth police officials said in a statement. It’s unclear whether they will face charges or why they were pursuing the man.
Officials noted that the department’s gun violence and gang units are assisting with the investigation.
