A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting that killed a 17-year-old in Mansfield the afternoon of Sept. 19, police say.

Michael Adrean Spencer was taken into custody Wednesday by detectives from the Mansfield Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. The 19-year-old faces a murder charge, Mansfield police said in a news release.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Cutting Horse Drive on Sept. 19 for a welfare check. As they approached, they could see people performing CPR on the victim, police said.

The 17-year-old, who has been identified as Julious David Rogers, died from gunshot wounds at a local hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Twenty-one-year-old Elijah Hatton was arrested by Mansfield SWAT officers Sept. 20, police said. He was booked into jail on suspicion of murder.

Hatton was being held Thursday in the Tarrant County Jail on a $200,000 bond, according to court records.
