Assailant tries to rob, kills man walking in southwest Fort Worth parking lot, police say

A man was shot to death early Wednesday after an assailant tried to rob him while they were walking in a southwest Fort Worth parking lot, police said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 60-year-old Gerardo Rosas. He was shot about 4:45 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 600 block of Copperfield Drive, Fort Worth police said.

Officers found the victim’s body on the ground. He was shot in the torso and died at the scene.

The assailant left the scene immediately after the killing, and police did not on Wednesday announce an arrest.
