An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left one person dead and another injured at a west Fort Worth motel on Monday afternoon.

Kendrale Carter was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail shortly before 4 p.m. Friday, according to police records. He faces a charge of capital murder.

Officers responded to the Landmark Lodge motel at 7501 Camp Bowie West Blvd. around 3:20 p.m. Monday. They found two people who had been shot.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital in critical condition, officials said. Twenty-three-year-old Sergio Navarro died at John Peter Smith Hospital from a gunshot wound to the abdomen less than an hour later, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.

Homicide detectives were investigating the case as a possible robbery, according to police.
