Fort Worth police arrest man accused of threat to shoot up Baptist church on Miller Avenue
Fort Worth police arrested a man early Saturday who they say threatened to shoot up a church in the eastern part of the city.
Police received word on July 13 that 35-year-old DeMarcus Hollie made direct threats to shoot up the First Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church on Miller Avenue on Sunday, according to a police report and press release.
Officers with the department’s gang unit tracked Hollie down to an apartment complex in Crowley, where he was arrested early Saturday morning without incident, the press release said.
“Due to the quick action of the victim and officers, this incident potentially saved numerous lives,” a police spokesperson said in the press release.
Hollie faces two felony charges of making terroristic threats and unlawfully possessing a firearm.
He was being held Monday in the Tarrant County Jail with bond set at $35,000.
