A woman early Wednesday shot her boyfriend in the torso as she feared for her safety in east Fort Worth, police said.

The encounter occurred about 1 a.m. at the girlfriend’s unit at the Paradise Hills Apartments in the 3700 block of Paradise Hills Drive, Fort Worth police said.

The girlfriend told police that the man arrived, forced his way into the front door and assaulted her.

The woman fired upon the man once when he advanced toward her in an aggressive manner, police said.

The man’s injury is life-threatening, police said. He was taken to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Grapevine.

Police did not announce an arrest.
