33-year-old arrested, faces murder charge in southwest Dallas shooting, police say

A 33-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in southwest Dallas, officials say.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed a man in southwest Dallas on Tuesday night, police said.

Shelby Jackson turned himself in to Dallas police on Thursday, officials said. Jackson is accused of fatally shooting 40-year-old Geoffrey Jones during an argument.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Perryton Drive around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday regarding a shooting call. The victim, Jones, had been arguing with the shooter, police said in a news release. The argument turned violent when Jackson shot Jones and left the scene, police said. Jones died at a local hospital, officials said.

Jackson was booked into the Dallas County Jail around 3:20 p.m. Thursday and faces a murder charge, according to court records.
