14-year-old shooting victim targeted by another 14-year-old has died, Dallas police say

A 14-year-old boy who was shot by another 14-year-old on May 25 has died, Dallas police said.

The victim, who hasn’t been publicly identified, died from his injuries on Wednesday, according to officials.

Officers responded to the 12700 block of Merit Drive, in north Dallas, around 6:45 p.m. on May 25, police said. They found a 14-year-old shooting victim who had been shot by another 14-year-old boy. The suspect was taken into custody and faces a murder charge.

The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died nearly a week later.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not commented on a motive for the shooting.

The names of the victim and suspect won’t be released because of their age, police said.
