Victim in fatal south Fort Worth shooting identified by medical examiner

A man killed Friday in south Fort Worth when an assailant fired into a vehicle has been identified as 46-year-old Kimathi Jimual Woodard, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Woodard and another person were sitting in a car in the 2700 block of Grove Street on Friday morning when someone walked by and asked what they were looking at, the witness told police.

The suspect walked past them and started shooting into their car, striking Woodard in the head as he tried to take cover on the floorboard on the passenger side, according to police.

The witness drove Woodard to JPS Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

No arrests in the homicide have been announced as of Wednesday afternoon.
