A Dallas County Sheriff’s Office inmate who escaped Wednesday afternoon is back in custody, the sheriff’s department announced.

The Garland Police Department received a call about a person at a bus stop acting “erratic,” according to the sheriff’s department. When police arrived, they determined it was the escapee, Carlos Duarte, and he was placed under arrest at around 7 p.m.

He has been charged with escape while arrested/confined.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department previously asked for the public’s help locating Duarte, who escaped Wednesday afternoon.

Duarte, 31, is a Dallas County Sheriff’s Department inmate who was working as a “trusty,” when he jumped from a laundry detail transport vehicle, authorities said.
