Fort Worth man arrested, accused of shooting at officer after car chase, police say
A 27-year-old Fort Worth man was arrested after he was accused of shooting at a River Oaks police officer Tuesday night following a car chase, officials said.
The suspect, who has been identified as Tony Rodriguez Quintanar, was driving on River Oaks Boulevard around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday when a police officer tried to pull him over for speeding, according to a River Oaks Police Department news release. The driver refused to stop, police said..
In the 2300 block of N.W. 25th Street in Fort Worth, the suspect got out of his vehicle and “fired multiple rounds” at the River Oaks officer, according to River Oaks Deputy Chief of Police Eric Perkins. The officer did not return fire, and the suspect fled on foot, he said.
“Fortunately nobody got hurt on either end,” Perkins told the Star-Telegram.
According to Perkins, the Fort Worth Police Department helped locate the suspect, who was found in an alleyway between 24th and 25th Street.
River Oaks police took Rodriguez Quintanar into custody and he was booked into the Tarrant County Jail Wednesday morning, Perkins said. A female passenger was released at the scene, he said.
Perkins said the suspect had two weapons on his person. He faces charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, unlawful carrying of a weapon by a felon and evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.
