A driver thwarted a carjacking early Monday in south Fort Worth when he backed his car into the suspects’ vehicle, Fort Worth police said.

A passenger in the suspects’ vehicle fired several shots, but the victim suffered only minor injuries.

One suspect was arrested, but a second suspect fled the scene.

Officers responded to a robbery call just before 5:30 a.m. Monday near West Ripy Street and College Avenue.

A motorist told police that the two suspects tried to rob and carjack him as he was leaving the area.

The suspects waited for the man to get into his vehicle and that was when they approached him at gunpoint, police said.

The man backed his car into the suspects’ vehicle, causing the air bags to deploy.

Police believe the passenger from the suspects’ vehicle opened fire at the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect driver was arrested, but the passenger who fired the shots fled the scene, police said.

No other injuries were reported.
