Murder suspect killed Arlington man for ‘putting your hands on my sister,’ warrant says
The brother of an Arlington woman warned her boyfriend that “you are not going to keep putting your hands on my sister” and opened fire on Aug. 26 inside an apartment, according to a warrant.
Darius Brown fired four gunshots at Donald Hunt Jr., 40, of Arlington, then fled the scene, according to the arrest warrant obtained by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Tuesday.
His sister left the apartment to seek help while her boyfriend died.
Brown, 32, was arrested Saturday in the 5000 block of Southpoint Drive by members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force. He was booked into the Arlington Jail on suspicion of murder.
The warrant written by Arlington police Detective A. Van Treeck provided these details on the fatal shooting:
The woman told police that she had been in a relationship with Hunt and lived at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Cypress Club Drive.
The couple got into an argument on Aug. 26 which escalated to Hunt making physical contact on her.
A witness later told police that the two had been arguing all day.
Someone at the apartment complex called Brown, who showed up a few minutes later and entered the apartment.
Brown’s sister told Arlington police that Brown began arguing with Hunt in the living room, but she left the room.
She continued to hear them argue, then silence and after that she heard several gunshots in the apartment. The woman told a detective she then heard footsteps.
When she walked back into the living room, she found Hunt shot, slumped over and bleeding. The woman left the apartment to get help.
A witness later told police that Brown arrived at the apartment complex, saying that “things are not going to end well for Donald.” That same witness later heard Brown say to Hunt while they were in the living room that “I told you, you are not going to keep putting your hands on my sister.”
Another witness told police about hearing four gunshots in the living room where Brown and Hunt had been arguing.
