Milagros Cavazos established a GoFundMe account for the family of 17-year-old Brayan Alvarez just shortly after the teen died from a shooting in Denton County.

Cavazos created it to help the family with funeral expenses for the junior at Lake Dallas High School.

“He was far too young and will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and church,” Cavazos posted on the GoFundMe account. “He would light up the room with his laughter and joyful humorous spirit, and was a friend to all.

No one has been arrested.

Deputies with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at about 2 a.m. Sunday at Elk Point Driver and Cove Meadows Drive in an unincorporated area of Denton County near Little Elm.

When deputies arrived, Alvarez was being treated for a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

“Because of this unexpected passing, we are helping the Alvarez family during this difficult time by raising funds for his funeral and memorial,” Cavazos posted on the accounty. “Anything will be a blessing and big help!”
