North Texas man arrested after claiming Navy Cross award, falsifying documents: constable

A man was arrested in North Texas last week on charges related to a stolen valor investigation.
On May 9, Phillip Edward Cormier was taken into custody on two felony charges of tampering with government records.
Cormier allegedly had a license plate that signified that he had received Navy Cross honors, according to Hood County officials. Officials said Cormier falsified documents to obtain the license plate.
He bonded out of jail on the day after his arrest.
Cormier was the general manager at the Pecan Plantation Owners Association. He resigned from his position four days before his arrest.
The charges of tampering with a government record are third-degree felonies.
Cormier could not immediately be reached for comment.
