Dallas police are looking for the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash Friday that resulted in the deaths of two teenagers.

The suspect, Faustino Membreno Rivera, is described by police as a heavy-set man, possibly in his 40s, who was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and pants at the scene.

On Friday, Rivera allegedly was involved in a collision after driving at a high rate of speed southbound in the 13900 block of Esperanza Road in the northbound lane of traffic, police said in a news release. The wrong-way driver’s car was a 2009 GMC Sierra pickup truck with Texas license plate number RHF3302 and it struck a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox SUV.

Crystal Pineda, 16, and Andres Pineda, 15, were in the SUV and died from their injuries in the crash. Family members told Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV that the two were a brother and sister who had gone out to get tacos for dinner with friends. Their cousin Nancy Pineda said the pickup truck had crossed over the double-yellow lines and hit the teenagers’ vehicle head-on.

Dallas police said the suspect fled the scene on foot without checking the welfare of the driver and occupants in the SUV.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rivera or additional information on the situation is asked to contact Detective Kenneth Watson at kenneth.watson@dallascityhall.com.
