Man dead, woman critical in second fatal Fort Worth road rage shooting this week

One person was killed and another in critical condition after a road rage shooting in south Fort Worth on Saturday morning, according to Fort Worth police.

At about 5:30 a.m., police said, officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Wayside Avenue after they received reports of gunshots.

Police said the road rage incident started at a nearby fast food restaurant and one car followed another to a home on Wayside where the shooting occurred.

Officers arrived at the scene and found two people who had been shot. A man was in critical condition with at least one gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police. His name has not been released.

A woman was found with at least one apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to a MedStar spokesperson.

Police said they are questioning the shooter but no arrests have been made. The suspect is cooperating with homicide investigators, according to police.

This is the second fatal road rage shooting in Fort Worth this week. A man was shot and killed in an apparent road rage shooting Wednesday. Police said they were questioning a suspect but had not made an arrest at the time.

No arrests in that case have been announced and booking records do not show any arrests related to the shooting.

Police said the Wednesday shooting, which happened just after 3 p.m. near the 700 block of Plaza Drive in south Fort Worth, sent a man to a hospital with a gunshot wound. He died at the hospital.

Police have not yet identified either the man who died or the shooter, and a police report is not yet available online.

By this point in 2021, Fort Worth had 24 homicides, according to police. This year, the city has seen 23 killings to date.
