Motorcyclist traveling at 140 mph during pursuit killed after crash in Parker County
A suspect on a motorcycle traveling at 140 mph was killed early Tuesday during a brief pursuit in Parker County when he lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a telephone pole and was thrown, according to the sheriff.
The motorcyclist was identified as Jason Estes, 45, of Weatherford, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website on Wednesday.
The incident began about 1 a.m. Tuesday when a deputy with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office was passed by the motorcyclist, who was then traveling northbound in excess of 100 mph on Farm Market 920.
When the deputy caught up to the suspect, the motorcyclist turned his vehicle around on FM 920 and headed southbound. The driver increased his speed to an estimated 130 to 140 mph in an attempt to escape from the deputy.
Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said in a news release that the motorcyclist attempted to turn onto Johnson Bend Road when the vehicle crashed.
Paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
The pursuit lasted about two minutes, according to reports.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation into the crash.
