Fort Worth investigators have arrested a suspect in a deadly Saturday morning shooting

The suspect and the victim in a fatal Fort Worth shooting that occurred Saturday are both young adults.

Police say Alfredo Olivares Jr., 19, was standing outside his residence in the 4000 block of Valentine Street when he was shot about 6 a.m., according to witnesses interviewed by investigators.

A suspect in the shooting, Peter Cardona, 23, of Benbrook, was in a Fort Worth jail on Wednesday, facing a murder charge.

Olivares was taken to the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, where officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office say he died in the operating room around 7:40 a.m. Saturday.

Police have not revealed a motive for the shooting.
