Arlington police arrest murder suspect they say shot a man after fight while gambling
Arlington police have arrested a suspect in Monday evening’s fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex.
Resuan Mouton, 19, face a charge of one count of murder, police said in a news release Tuesday. Police haven’t ruled out the possibility he and the 49-year-old victim were shooting at each other following a fight.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man who died as Gerald Needam, 49, of Arlington.
The department believes Mouton and Needam met on Monday at the complex in the 1700 block of Trinity Height Drive to gamble. It seems they then got into a fight, leading to the shooting, police said.
Officers responded to the apartments around 5:25 p.m. and found Mouton, who had minor injuries, police said. They took him into custody.
As officers investigated the shooting, they were told a second man, later identified as Needam, had been dropped off at a hospital with an apparent gunshot wound, police said. He was later pronounced dead.
Police recovered two guns at the scene of the shooting, causing them to consider the men were shooting at each other, according to the release.
Mouton is being held in jail on a $100,000 bond, police said.
The department is still trying to determine with certainty what happened at the complex on Monday evening.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Homicide Detective Cisneros at 817-575-3218 or Tarrant County Crimestoppers at 817-469-TIPS, police said.
