Gunshot victim armed with baseball bat chases suspected gunman in Fort Worth, police say
A man who was shot in his leg chased down the suspected gunman with a baseball bat Monday morning on Fort Worth streets before police arrived and arrested the suspect, Fort Worth police said.
No other injuries were reported in the pursuit, which also included a car chase.
Fort Worth police responded to a shooting call just before 10 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Jennings Avenue, but that’s just where the chase ended.
The pursuit began in the 1000 block of East Berry Street.
Two men were at Metro PCS and got into a fight at the store, Fort Worth police said. One man shot the other, wounding the victim in the leg.
The suspect got into his car and drove off. He was followed by the victim, who got into his own vehicle.
Near West Rosedale Street and College Avenue, the suspect again fired a shot at the victim, but he missed, police said.
Both drove to the 2100 block of South Jennings Avenue, where they stopped.
The suspect got out and ran while the victim — armed with a baseball bat — chased him, Fort Worth police said.
Police officers arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect. Police did not release the name of the suspect.
The wounded victim was taken to a local hospital.
