Arlington police say anonymous tips led them to arrest homicide suspect
Multiple anonymous tips led Arlington police to arrest and charge a man suspected of murder, the department said.
On Thursday, a man was shot and killed in Arlington in the 600 block of Carter Drive. Police found him on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds and later identified him as 40-year-old Marlon Wright.
Police posted surveillance photos of the suspect and a red Cadillac SUV and asked anyone with information to come forward.
People sent in numerous anonymous tips to the department, leading Arlington police to the registered owner of the Cadillac SUV. On Sunday, police arrested 32-year old Tevin Rashad Wright near an auto parts store in north Arlington, and he was charged with one count of murder.
Police believe Tevin Wright and Marlon Wright met up at C-Store in Arlington on Thursday. Surveillance footage showed that both men pulled up to the store and had a lengthy conversation inside and outside the store, according to an arrest warrant.
Tevin Wright and Marlon Wright are not related, police said.
Tevin Wright is shown on video pointing in the direction of Carter Drive and Hollandale Circle, as if indicating which direction the two of them should go. The men get in their separate cars and drive away quickly.
More surveillance footage showed Tevin Wright and Marlon Wright driving about a block away from where Marlon Wright’s body was found by police. One witness told Arlington police they saw Tevin Wright standing over Marlon Wright with a gun in the 600 block of Carter Drive.
“(He) popped that guy,” the person told police.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Tevin Wright on Saturday.
