Man dies after he is shot while sitting in back of a vehicle in Arlington, police say
A 20-year-old man died Saturday after he was shot as he sat in the back of a vehicle in Arlington, authorities said.
Anthony Porter Jr., who died at a hospital, was shot in the 700 block of Washington Drive, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Porter, who lived in Arlington, was shot about 10:15 a.m. and died about four hours later.
Porter was among four people who went to an apartment complex to meet with a man who fired upon the group when they were inside the vehicle, police said. He was struck as they drove away. Police said they found illicit drugs in connection with the homicide.
Police found Porter inside the vehicle in the 1800 block of Carriage House Circle.
The assailant left the scene before police arrived. Detectives were working to identify him.
Someone with information on the killing should call Det. Frank King at 817-459-5637, police said.
