Suspect arrested after shooting 2 people outside Arlington shopping center, police say

Two people were shot in the parking lot of a shopping center in Arlington on Wednesday, police said.

At around 1:45 p.m. officers arrived at the 4600 block of South Cooper Street near a Ross Dress for Less store after receiving reports of shots being fired, an Arlington Police Department press release says.

They found a man and a woman, who had been shot. They were taken to a hospital and are both expected to live. Police did not have their names Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses told officers they saw the victims having an argument with a man on a motorcycle before the shooting. Officers believe the three know each other.

The suspect, 23-year old Anthonee Jones of Arlington, was then arrested. He’s been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said. He also had outstanding warrants on traffic and drug-related offenses.

He was being held Thursday at the Arlington City Jail.
