Man sought in suburban Fort Worth officer’s shooting arrested at extended stay hotel
A man who police alleged shot a Watauga police officer was arrested on Wednesday at an extended stay hotel in Fort Worth.
Britt Moody was booked on suspicion of two counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer, aggravated assault on a peace officer and evading arrest, Watauga police said on Thursday.
Moody shot the officer in an arm on Monday night during a foot pursuit, police alleged.
The officer was treated at a hospital and released, Watauga Police Chief Robert Parker said.
The encounter began about 9:30 p.m. when police tried to stop the vehicle Moody was driving, Parker said. He led authorities on a vehicle pursuit before he stopped at Virgil R. Anthony Sr. Park at 5900 Barry Drive and abandoned the vehicle.
As police chased on foot, the suspect turned and fired at officers, Parker said.
Moody also is accused of driving over another officer’s foot, police said in a news release.
