As drug feud unfolded in car, man shot dead with rifle in a Dallas suburb, police say

A man standing outside a car parked at a convenience store in Garland fired a rifle into it Thursday morning, killing a person sitting inside with whom he had an argument over drugs, police said.

Noah Hansen, 20, was shot about 7:45 a.m. at Saturn and West Kingsley roads, Garland police said. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The suspect, Juan Yepez, Hansen and two women were inside the car. Yepez got out and shot Hansen as it was beginning to move, police said.

Detectives found Yepez, 25, in the 3000 block of Lamesa Drive. The rifle was also found, police said.

Yepez was combative as he was arrested and tried to take an officer’s gun, police said.

Yepez was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempting to take weapon from a police officer. He was held at the Garland Detention Center. No bond had been set Thursday.
