Men used sales app, PlayStation to lure, rob 7 people in Fort Worth area, police say
Fort Worth police have arrested four men who are accused of robbing at least seven different people who were attempting to buy a PlayStation from the suspects.
Multiple people were lured to parking lots in White Settlement and Fort Worth by the men, who would connect with people on a sales app on the premise of selling a PlayStation 4 video game system, Fort Worth police said in a press release.
One man would pull the PlayStation out of a backpack, while another would come up behind the victim with a handgun and demand they hand over money, Fort Worth police said.
Detectives suspect the men robbed people in this manner in five separate incidents in Fort Worth and twice in White Settlement.
One man met up with the suspects on May 4 in the 8900 block of Branchwood Trail. When one of the suspects came up behind him, the man they were trying to rob pulled out his licensed handgun. The suspects managed to take the weapon and fled, police said.
With help from a cooperating witness, police monitored a fake buy with the men and pulled them over on May 6. Officers found several guns, including the one that had been stolen, and stolen property in the car. The four men admitted to committing the robberies, according to police.
The four men — Dkye Nyare Burroughs, 19, Jacquez McQueen, 19, Darius Walker, 18, and Jashaad Tayreese Clayborn, 18 — are each charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.
Police said if anyone else believes they were robbed in a similar situation, they can call police at 817-392-4469 or 817-392-4382.
