Dallas teacher accused of improper relationship with student, soliciting minor online
A Dallas high school teacher is accused of sexually assaulting a teen and having an improper relationship with the student, Garland police said.
Robert Marc Flores, an engineering teacher at Emmett J. Conrad High School in Dallas, also faces a charge of online solicitation of a minor.
Garland police arrested Flores, 59, Tuesday morning at his home in southeast Garland.
Police had intended to arrest him only on the solicitation charge, but detectives discovered new evidence Tuesday that led to the additional charges.
Detectives believe the victim is a 16-year-old student in the Dallas school district.
Dallas Independent School District officials did not release a comment on Wednesday. Flores was placed on leave from his job Tuesday following his arrest.
Flores was in the Garland Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bond on the solicitation charge. No bond had been set on the pending charges of improper relationship between educator and student, or the sexual assault of a child.
Garland detectives believe this to be an isolated case, but authorities continued the investigation.
At Conrad High School, Flores was the lead teacher in the academy of engineering. He taught AC/DC circuits, CIM, digital electronics and principles of engineering, according to the Conrad High School website.
