Investigators looking for driver in fatal hit-and-run in north Tarrant County

Investigators are searching for a driver they say killed a woman in a hit-and-run incident shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.

They think the 42-year-old woman was walking along the roadside when she was struck by a vehicle in the 13300 block of FM 730 North, near Reed Road.

Tarrant County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from a passing motorist who saw the woman on the side of the road, according to a news release. She was found dead at 12:54 a.m.

The victim has been identified as Vanessa Kaye Fretz of Azle, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website on Monday.
