Two kids hurt in accidental shooting after 1-year-old finds gun in Fort Worth, police say

Two children were injured in an accidental shooting at a Fort Worth motel Monday night, police said.

A 1-year-old child got hold of a gun at the Dalworth Inn in south Fort Worth. The gun went off and the bullet hit the child, fragmented, and hit a 4-year-old child in the lower body, Fort Worth Officer Buddy Calzada said.

Officers responded to the shooting call at 8 p.m. on 812 East Felix Street. Crime scene tape was strung up around the parking lot, and onlookers watched police from the inn balconies.

Both children were taken to the hospital and were in stable condition, Calzada said. The Crimes Against Children Unit was notified and detectives were investigating.
