Juvenile accused in fatal Arlington shooting faces murder charge
A juvenile faces a charge of delinquent conduct/murder in the shooting death of a 28-year-old Arlington man Sunday morning at the victim’s home, Arlington police said Monday.
The boy also faces two counts of delinquent conduct/aggravated assault with a deadly weapon because he’s accused of shooting and wounding the victim’s girlfriend, authorities said.
In addition, the juvenile is accused of shooting at a third adult at the house, but missed him, Arlington police said.
A second juvenile who was detained Sunday was not charged in the case and released to family members.
The victim has been identified as John Christopher Brennan, 28, according to officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. A ruling on his death is pending an autopsy.
Brennan was pronounced dead at his home, according to the medical examiner’s website on Monday.
Arlington police did not release many details in the shooting, noting the suspect is a juvenile and police were legally limited to what they could release.
When asked how the juveniles knew the victims, Arlington said “all of the parties knew each other.”
“We do not believe this was a stranger-on-stranger crime,” according to a Sunday Arlington police news release.
At 7:42 a.m. Sunday, Arlington police responded to a shooting call in the 2100 block of Foxcroft Lane. Officers found a man and woman who had been shot. The man was later identified as John Christopher Brennan and the woman was his girlfriend.
Brennan was pronounced dead at the home, and the woman went to the hospital with serious injuries, police said in a press release.
Arlington police did not release a motive for the shooting.
