Suspect arrested after cyclist is seriously injured in hit-and-run near Fort Worth

A bicyclist was seriously injured after a hit-and-run early Sunday morning in Blue Mound, police said.

At about 1 a.m., officers were called to the 1700 block of Glenn Drive after a cyclist was hit by a car that fled the scene, police said in a press release.

The cyclist had major injuries to his head and chest and was taken to John Peter Smith hospital.

Police started investigating the crash and found the suspect at a Fort Worth home. The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.

The passenger in the car was found and arrested and charged with failure to report a felony and tampering with evidence.

The condition of the bicyclist was not known Sunday afternoon, police said in the press release.
