Suspected Dallas-Fort Worth serial killer indicted on 2 more counts of capital murder

A suspected serial killer who is accused in the slayings of at least 19 women in the Dallas-Fort Worth area was indicted Tuesday on two more counts of capital murder.

Billy Chemirmir was connected by a grand jury to the deaths of Leah Corken, 83, and Juanita Purdy, 82, KXAS-TV reported. The victims lived at The Tradition-Prestonwood in Dallas and died in the summer of 2016.

Corken and Purdy are thought to have been suffocated with a pillow or choked, according to the KXAS-TV report. They were robbed.

Chemirmir has been indicted in the killings of 14 women. He has been connected to at least five more deaths in lawsuits filed by the women’s relatives.

Dallas County prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Chemirmir, who was arrested on March 20, 2018. He has maintained that he is not guilty.

Chemirmir was first accused of killing an 81-year-old woman in Dallas in 2018 and was indicted on 11 additional capital murder charges in Dallas and Collin counties in May. Chemirmir also is charged with attempting to kill two other women in Frisco and Plano.
