‘Vigilant’ citizens thwart robbery spree of Arlington stores; three suspects arrested

Observant residents stopped a robbery spree Sunday night after they reported a suspicious person at a store at Interstate 20 and Kelly Elliott Road in Arlington, Arlington police said.

The robbers had hit three other convenience stores before arriving at the business at Interstate 20 and Kelly Elliott Road.

Within minutes, Arlington police arrived on the scene and arrested one suspect who fled the scene on foot and threw a rifle away. Police located that weapon.

Two other suspects drove away from the store, but they were arrested later in Fort Worth.

“We are grateful for vigilant citizens who saw something suspicious and called it into us,” Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson said in a Tweet Monday morning.

The series of robberies began about 7:15 p.m. Sunday in west Arlington and ended at 8:42 p.m. Sunday. The robbers are accused of hitting three stores over a two-hour period.

The Arlington stores robbed were Mr. T, 6808 Bowman Springs Road; Lucky Lady Food, 3816 Little Road; and Conoco, 1125 W. Arkansas Lane.

The suspects were in a fourth Arlington store, Valero, 4331 Kelly Elliott Road, when Arlington police were alerted.

The suspects arrested were Braylon Cobb, Shondrick Roberson-Davenport and Dreshaun Stafford, all 19 years old, police said.

Cobb was arrested about 8 p.m. Sunday and he’s accused of having the gun that police found. The other two were arrested as they were sitting in a car in the 8300 block of Brent Chase Drive in Fort Worth, police said.
