FBI to use tip line to identify victims of sex crimes involving clergy in North Texas

The FBI on Thursday said it hopes to identify people who were the victims of sex crimes in the North Texas region involving a member of the clergy between 1985 and now.

The FBI Dallas Field Office has established a dedicated telephone tip line and webpage for victims to use to report such a crime.

“This investigation is not focused on a specific religion or church,” the agency wrote in a statement. “The FBI’s focus is on identifying and supporting victims who suffered abuse by a clergy member of any church or religious denomination in the North Texas area.”

Victims should complete a confidential questionnaire found at https://www.fbi.gov/ntxclergyabuse, the FBI said. Based on the responses, victims may be contacted by the FBI and asked to provide additional information. Victims may also call 1-800-CALL-FBI to make a report.

The website also includes links to resources and other assistance for victims.

A person who is not a victim but has information related to the investigation may call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
