2 murder suspects arrested after 1 leaves wallet at Arlington marijuana-robbery scene

A wallet at the scene of a September killing in Arlington is among the evidence that police allege links one of two suspects to a man’s death. Both suspects were arrested this week on suspicion of capital murder.

Shakim Robinson, 18, shot LaZackahri McDaniel multiple times in his back during a marijuana robbery, police said. Austin Hulitt, 19, planned the robbery and was present for it, police said.

McDaniel, 18, was shot on Sept. 2 at an apartment complex parking lot in the 1600 block of Pecan Chase Circle.

Hulitt’s wallet was found at the scene, Arlington police Detective Spencer Simmons wrote in an arrest warrant affidavit supporting Hulitt’s arrest on the murder charge. The suspect asked his girlfriend to search the scene for the wallet, Simmons wrote.

Robinson was arrested Tuesday and was being held at the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday night. Hulitt was arrested Wednesday in Benbrook. He was taken to the Arlington Jail.

Before police arrived at the shooting scene, McDaniel was driven to a hospital, where he died.
