Man dies after being hit by car in Grand Prairie, police say

A man died after being hit by a car while he was crossing the road in Grand Prairie on Saturday evening, police said.

The man was trying to walk across West Main Street in the 2500 block at about 6:45 p.m., according to a press release from Grand Prairie police. He stepped in front of a 2019 Acura SUV that was driving west on Main Street.

The car hit the man, who was taken to Medical City Arlington by ambulance. The man, who had not been identified as of Sunday afternoon, died at the hospital.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision, police said. The driver of the Acura, a 63-year-old woman, will not face any charges.

The accident is the first traffic fatality this year in Grand Prairie, according to police.
