Police find 3-week-old baby dead in cooler after searching a south Dallas motel room

Police are asking the public to provide information about a 3-week-old boy found dead in a cooler inside a motel room.

Police were called by a special investigator with Child Protective Services concerning a welfare check on the infant about 2 p.m. Saturday at a motel in the 8300 block of South Lancaster Road, a news release said.

After searching the motel room, investigators found the infant inside a cooler, the release said. Detectives are awaiting a ruling on the cause and manner of death from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Investigators said they are also awaiting a determination as to how long the infant had been dead before he was found, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information call Detective Corey Foreman at 214-275-1300.
