Police arrest 2 juvenile suspects in the shooting death of a boy in Haltom City
Police arrested two juvenile boys, 15 and 16, suspected in the death of another 16-year-old boy who was found shot Sunday at a Haltom City apartment complex.
The victim was identified as Christopher Michael Cashen.
Cashen was pronounced dead at North Hills Hospital about an hour after police responded to a shots-fired call, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Cashen attended school in the Birdville school district, according to Mark Thomas, a Birdville Independent School District spokesman.
Police have not released the names of the suspects because they are under 17.
The two juvenile suspects were taken to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center, where they each face a murder charge, said Sgt. Eric Peters, Haltom City Police Department spokesman.
It is not known what school the suspects attended, but the suspects and Cashen were all residents of Richland Hills, police said.
Police found Cashen in a parking lot at the Rio Vista Apartment Complex in the 6300 block of Baker Boulevard. The teen was shot about 2 p.m. Sunday, according to police.
Police are still searching for a motive for the fatal shooting, Peters said.
Anyone with information about the slaying should contact Haltom City police at 817-222-7000.
