21-month-old girl struck by pickup truck dies in Fort Worth driveway, police say

A 21-month-old girl died in a south Fort Worth driveway Saturday when she was struck by a pickup truck, police said.

Ashley Castro Velasquez was killed in the 3000 block of Gardenia Drive, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

The man who drove the truck that struck the toddler at about 3:15 p.m. had possibly been involved in a domestic argument just before, police said.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, left the scene. He and a passenger were later detained for questioning.

Police did not describe the relationship between the driver and the toddler. Ashley lived on the street where she was killed.
