An 18-year-old has been arrested after he accidentally shot his friend in the head while they were driving in Fort Worth, according to police.

Timothy So is charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of 18-year-old Amir Ruvalcaba.

Police found Ruvalcaba in a crashed car on Warfield Street on April 12. He had been shot in the head, and the three other people who had been in the car had run away, police said.

Homicide detectives said So, Ruvalcaba and two other people had been out shooting guns. When they got in the car, So was in the backseat and was “careless and reckless” with the loaded weapon.

He pulled the trigger on one of the guns, shooting Ruvalcaba. So and the two others ran away, and one of them went into a store to call 911.

Police said they have spoken with everyone involved in the shooting.

The scene of the crash near 2200 Warfield Avenue is about one mile east of the Fort Worth Stockyards.
