A caller told 911 dispatchers multiple shooters were on the street at 6:21 p.m., according to dispatch reports.
At about 8 p.m., Officer Buddy Calzada said two people were armed and shooting in the area. Two people were shot, one of whom was found near the scene and another was located at a nearby hospital.
Police did not have a description of the shooters at 8 p.m. The special response team was called to the scene to clear the house that was involved in the shooting, Calzada said.
The two people who were injured were hospitalized with what did not appear to be life-threatening injuries, Calzada said.
Police had the area blocked off and were questioning witnesses on scene.
Neighbor Tony Armstead said he heard lots of gunshots and thought some of the houses had bullet holes in them. He said he’s lived in the area for 12 years and incidents like these do not happen often.
