Fort Worth police’s online reporting system has been down for months. Here’s why.
The Fort Worth police’s online reporting service has been down for about four months due to a software issue, according to police.
The system, which can be found on the police department’s website, is used for people to make a non-emergency report online about a crime.
However, since November 2018, the site has been down, featuring a notice on the page that the system is temporarily unavailable.
Fort Worth Officer Bradley Perez said the system crash happened when police implemented a new records management software program. The service did not work correctly, and the department’s software vendor is still working on a solution.
Perez said the online system being down does not impede or make it more difficult for police or citizens to report crimes. A police unit takes police reports over the phone, and citizens can call the non-emergency number at 817-392-4222 to make a report.
