Police arrest 5 teens for robberies, including one that ended with a clerk being shot

Five teenagers accused of robbing two Haltom City businesses, and shooting one clerk, have been arrested, police said on Monday.

The robberies happened within hours of each other on Dec. 6.

The first one happened just before 4 p.m. at Mr. Convenience, 3624 Denton Highway. An employee was shot during a struggle with one of the suspects, police said. A customer, who walked into the store and saw the fight, called 911.

The clerk is expected to recover from his injuries, police said.

The second robbery happened at Carson Food Mart, 2531 Carson St. A 17-year-old identified as Bryan Rodriguez was arrested after and charged with aggravated robbery. He is being held at the Tarrant County Jail on a $250,000 bail.

Over the weekend, Haltom City police arrested four more teenagers:

Francisco Moreno, 17, charged with aggravated robbery, engaging in organized criminal activity and possession of a controlled substance.

Edgar Meza, 17, charged with aggravated robbery, engaging in criminal activity, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

German Navarrete, 17, charged with aggravated robbery, engaging in organized criminal activity and evading arrest.

Martin Chazarreta, 18, charged with aggravated robbery, engaging in organized criminal activity and possession of marijuana.

All four arrested over the weekend were also given a $250,000 bail. Police didn’t say which suspect is accused of shooting the clerk.

Detectives are investigating if the group is involved in any other robberies in the surrounding area.
