Clerk shot during armed robbery of Haltom City convenience store

A store clerk was shot during a hold-up of a Haltom City convenience store on Thursday afternoon, police said.

At 3:50 p.m., a man pulled out a gun and demanded money from the clerk of the Mr. Convenience store at 3624 Denton Highway, according to a Haltom City police press release.

A struggle between the clerk and the suspect began. During the fight, the clerk was shot by the suspect’s gun, police said.

A customer, who walked into the store and saw the fight, called 911. The suspect ran from the store and fled in a red BMW, police said.

Police tried to stop the car, leading to a short pursuit in which officers eventually lost sight of the BMW. Shortly after, North Richland Hills officers found the BMW unoccupied in North Richland Hills.

The injured clerk was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, and his condition was unknown as of Thursday night.

Haltom City detectives and crime-scene investigators were still working the crime scene and pursuing multiple leads Thursday night, the press release said. No suspect information was available Thursday night.

If anyone has information, they can call Haltom City Police at 817-222-7000.
