North Texas mom charged with murder of 2-year-old son

A North Texas mother was charged with murder in the death of her 2-year-old son on Monday.

Anival Ivan Narvaez, 2, died at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth on Monday after being flown from a hospital in Brownwood, which is about 140 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Anival was hospitalized in Brownwood with severe head injuries inconsistent with information provided by his mother, according to Brownwood police.

After being taken to Cook Children’s, Anival died in surgery Monday night as a result of head injuries, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Anival’s mother, Vanessa Nicole Narvaez, 21, was charged with murder, police said. She was being held in the Brown County Jail on Tuesday with no bond.

An investigation is being conducted by Brownwood Police, Texas Rangers and Child Protective Services.
