A mother and her 17-year-old son were shot in a domestic disturbance, police say

A 21-year-old man is in jail after police say he shot his mother and 17-year-old brother on Tuesday morning.

Officers were sent to an apartment in the 5300 block of East Rosedale Street at 9:51 a.m. At least 10 police units were sent to the address.

Officer Tracy Carter said the shooting stemmed from a domestic disturbance between the three family members. What they fought about wasn’t immediately known.

The mother was shot in her leg and her younger son was shot in his chest, Carter said. The teenager is in critical condition. Both of them are stable, Carter said Tuesday evening.

The older son was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. Officers said he asked them if his mother was OK.

No one has been identified.
