Police address Facebook post that claims 4 attempted kidnappings in Burleson

Burleson police took to Facebook on Monday afternoon to deny rumors floating around social media about an attempted abduction at Hobby Lobby.

“We will continue to investigate the information and post an update if there is any validity to the report,” police said.

No report about the alleged incident was ever reported to the department or to Hobby Lobby, police said.

“There have not been four attempted kidnappings in Burleson (as the post says),” the department wrote. “The original post was removed from Facebook.”

Police asked anyone who has information about the possible incident to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

“Posts like this have a tendency to create undue panic from the public and they also tie up police resources investigating the post’s source,” the department wrote.
