SOUTHLAKE Texas Health Southlake just completed a 5,300-square-foot expansion and is looking for healthcare professionals to fill newly created jobs.

"We’re absolutely hiring," said Laura Redmon, director of marketing for Texas Health Southlake. "Right now we’re looking for more nurses and techs."

The expansion, the second since the hospital opened in 2004, added six new observation rooms, where patients usually stay for less than 48 hours. The hospital also transformed an under-utilized space into a new inpatient room.

Now, the hospital, located on Southlake Boulevard across from Southlake Town Square, has a total of 23 beds, all of which have private suites. The family waiting room was expanded and modernized with new televisions and a patient tracker that provides updates to loved ones.

"This project was much needed due to the growing demand for the highest quality of healthcare in our community," Traci Bernard, hospital president, said in a press release. "Not only does it provide more space for our staff and patients, but it beautifully complements our existing facility."

The hospital currently employees more than 300 people in 17 different specialties.

Texas Health Southlake was the city’s first and only hospital until the Forest Park Medical Center opened in 2013 with 54 beds on Texas 114. The Forest Park facility filed for bankruptcy and was purchased by Methodist Health System for $17.6 million.
